KEEPING YOUR INVESTMENT CERTIFICATE SAFE You will agree that financial records have become a vital part of one’s lives. They are a key to your credit standing, are essential to help you save money on taxes, and also are a continuing indication of your financial progress. Record-keeping is also important due to legal and safety factors. A major factor identified as a cause of delays in the investment redemption process is the lack of availability of certificates evidencing units in the Halal Fund (Unit Certificate) by our customers. This is why at Lotus Capital we are interested in ensuring the safe keeping of your investment certificate. After investment what happens? After investing, an investment certificate made out in your name and stating the number of units purchased in the Halal fund will be posted by registered mail to your contact address within four weeks. What do I do if I don’t receive my certificate? You will be advised to check at the nearest post office to your postal address. If you have not received the investment certificate within four weeks, report to us at lotus capital. An indemnity form should be downloaded from our website and filled out. This indemnifies us and the registrars if the certificate were to be used fraudulently in the future. The indemnity form after duly filled will be processed and a new certificate will be issued to you. What do I do with the investment certificate I receive? As your investment certificate is a legal document which is difficult to replace or duplicate, it is recommend that it is kept properly. Upon receiving your certificate, it is very important that it is kept in a very safe place. It can be kept in a safe-deposit box or possibly left with your attorney. It should be kept hidden from any liquids, fire, insects, rodents and little kids. At, the same time, it should not be kept so hidden that one will not remember. Following the report on natural disasters e.g. flooding, it is also recommended that copies of the certificate can be made and forwarded to trusted relative and also having copies in a fireproof or waterproof file that could be lifted at a moment's notice Why is it important to keep my certificate safe? The importance of safe keeping of your investment certificate cannot be over emphasized. Your investment certificate is essential; as proof of your investment, to keep abreast of your financial status, as reference point for other investment decision, legal records etc. |
